Girls on the Run

New Stanley is privileged to have a Girls on the Run program  for 3rd to 5th grade girls that meets two days a week after school. Girls on the Run is a national program that includes lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. [girlsontherun.org]  At New Stanley, we have two seasons — one in the fall and one in the spring.  Girls unable to participate in the Fall season will have another opportunity in the Spring.  In addition to the lessons and running, or walking, together at the meetings the girls participate in a community impact project — volunteering at the Go Girl Run event and a 5k at the end of the season. Thank you to our dedicated staff who volunteer to make this happen! Run, Girls, Run!

Girls on the Run Kansas City 5K

14 girls, 8 staff and a number of family members ran in the Kansas City 10th annual Girls on the Run 5K on Saturday, November 4th. Thank you coaches Ms. Treaster, Ms. Barry, Ms. Mayer, Ms. Landry, Ms. Nolan, Ms. Hoffman, Ms. Baker and Ms. Maddox for coaching the girls during the Fall season.  Staff Running Buddies for the 5K included Ms. Madrigal, Ms. Everest and Ms. Butler. Selections will be held after the first of the year for the Spring season which will culminate in a city 5K in May.
